Arabic: Language of the Quran, An Exhibit

From January 16th through March 20th, the San Francisco Library and the Islamic Art Exhibit will present Arabic: Language of the Quran. This exhibit and related programs are supported by many institutions, including GTU's Center for Islamic Studies. 

"Exploring Space in Medieval Islamic Architecture," presentation by Carol Bier

 

Center for Islamic Studies Visiting Scholar Carol Bier will be presenting an invited paper on "Intersecting Polygons/Exploring Space in Medieval Islamic Architecture."  This will be during an all-day special session on Current Areas of Interest in the Mathematical Sciences of Medieval Islam at the Joint Mathematic Meetings (American Mathematics Society and the Math Association of America), to be held at the Convention Center in Seattle in January.

In Solidarity Against Islamophobia

Challenging recent Islamophobic rhetoric, leaders from Jewish, Hindu, Buddhist, Christian, and Muslim traditions unite for illuminating dialogue and action in solidarity with Muslim communities.

This panel discussion is organized by the iGov Program at UC Berkeley, in partnership with several co-sponsors including the GTU's Center for Islamic Studies. Speakers will include Prof. Saba Mahmood, Prof. Judith Butler, and many others.

CIS Honors Fall 2015 MA Graduates

On behalf of the Center for Islamic Studies at the GTU, we are delighted to share with you that we have four more outstanding students who have completed their MA in Islamic Studies. Formal and official conferral of degrees will take place at the GTU graduation in May 2016.
