GTU Doctoral Candidate Corinna Guerrero, who teaches at both ABSW and JST, is among the contributors to Faithfully Feminist: Jewish, Christian, & Muslim Feminists on Why We Stay. Join her for a conversation about that book and the role of women in religion. Monday, November 2, from 6:00 to 6:40, in the chapel at American Baptist Seminary of the West, 2606 Dwight Way, Berkeley. Co-sponsored by ABSW and the GTU's Women's Studies in Religion program. WSR students earn two WSR Credits for attending.   

#BlackLivesMatter: The Spirit of Protest Discussion

The BlackLivesMatter class at the Graduate Theological Union, sponsored by the American Baptist Seminary of the West, Pacific School of Religion & the Center for Social and Spiritual Transformation, invites the community to join them for a special class session. Ms Alicia Garza, co-founder of #BlackLivesMatter, The Reverend Traci Blackman, UCC Pastor in Ferguson, MO, as well as The Reverend Michael McBride, PICO, Lifelines to Healing Campaign, will be joining us for a discussion of theological perspectives and spiritual resources for direct action and radical social change.

International Women's Day Celebration: Advancements, Challenges and International Cooperation

The International House at UC Berkeley hosts this celebration and panel discussion focusing on women’s accomplishments as well as barriers to gender equality, moderated by Professor Minoo Moallem, UC Berkeley Gender & Women’s Studies Department. Panelists include Nathalie Delrue-McGuire, Consul General of Belgium; Cassie Doyle, Consul General of Canada; Ana Valenzuela, Consul General of El Salvador and Hilde Skorpen, Consul General of Norway.

Womanist Symposium 2015

"But Who Do You Say I Am?" is the theme for the GTU's third annual womanist symposium at American Baptist Seminary of the West, 2606 Dwight Way, Berkeley, CA 94704. Keynote speaker will be Rev. Dr. Linda E. Thomas, professor of theology and anthropology at Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago. Respondents and panelists for the day includes Dr. Valerie Miles Tribble, Dr. Jacqueline Thompson, Rev. Sandra Blair, Rev. Dr. Martha C. Taylor, and Dr. James Noel.
