Take 20-30 minutes out of your busy schedule for some self-care and join us. There will be Reiki, healing touch, shamanic healing, and opportunities for meditation to be offered for students, faculty and staff of the GTU and the surrounding community. Be kind to yourself!

Workshop Performance of Upstairs, musical chroncling an anti-LGBT arson in New Orleans

Upstairs chronicles the New Orleans arson fire of June 24, 1973, that killed 32 people at the Up Stairs Lounge, a gay bar known for its affiliation with the LGBT affirming Metropolitan Community Church (MCC). In the months after the tragedy, the fire was virtually ignored by local leaders, law enforcement, institutions, some families of the victims, and the wider world.

Building Family Among Senior Populations

As Baby Boomers face their own issues with aging, caring for the needs of their parents bring its own unique challenge. What are the ways that congregations can best provide care and community for these “pillars” of the church? While heterosexual contemporaries may have children or other family units to provide support in later years, what happens to the LGBT individuals who have been estranged from their family? Hear stories of hope and challenge from members of the senior community and those who provide services for them.

La Mission Film Screening & Discussion with Director Peter Bratt

This screening is a part of the PSR Earl Lectures and Leadership Conference. La Mission is a moving portrayal of redemption, transformation and family struggle. Written and directed by Peter Bratt, the film premiered at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival (official selection).
