Their talks will explore the notion of Spirituality as it is incorporated in and developed through religious commemorations and practices.
Dr. Shonkoff's talk is titled "The Forty-Nine-Day Path from Liberation to Revelation" and explores how in Jewish ritual time Passover marks the beginning of a psychological journey to Shavuot, the celebration of Sinai.

Join us for the Inaugural Lecture for the Taube Family Chair in Jewish Studies given by Taube Family Assistant Professor of Jewish Studies Sam Shonkoff. Dr. Shonkoff's talk is titled “Gender in Martin Buber’s Hasidic Tales.” The event will feature introductory words by GTU leadership and Shana Penn, Executive Director of Taube Philanthropies, as well as a response by Dr. Judith Plaskow, professor emerita of religious studies at Manhattan College.
The GTU's Madrasa-Midrasha Program is pleased to announce summer research grants ranging from $250 to $1000 to support GTU students working on interreligious projects related to Judaism and/or Islam.
