Multi-Faith Transgender Summit 2015

The Eighth Annual Multi-Faith Transgender Summit will bring together religious activists, leaders, students, and practitioners from across a variety of faith traditions to explore intersectionalities of religion and trans* identities. This 3-day event will include workshops, discussion groups, and academic presentations. The conference will feature a free & open to the public event: Community Action Forum: Confronting Violence Against Transgender Communities.

CLGS Lavender Lunch: Steps and Strategies for Congregational Inclusion of Transpeople

In this workshop we will look at steps and some strategies of bringing your congregation to a place of inclusion of transgender people through awareness, understanding, allyship, and advocacy. This workshop touches on the typical "Trans 101" work but goes deeper. This workshop is cosponsored by the Coalition of Welcoming Congregations and will be presented by Lee Whittaker.

Workshop Performance of Upstairs, musical chroncling an anti-LGBT arson in New Orleans

Upstairs chronicles the New Orleans arson fire of June 24, 1973, that killed 32 people at the Up Stairs Lounge, a gay bar known for its affiliation with the LGBT affirming Metropolitan Community Church (MCC). In the months after the tragedy, the fire was virtually ignored by local leaders, law enforcement, institutions, some families of the victims, and the wider world.
